JAKARTA – The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) has partnered with domestic eyewear manufacturer PT Atalla Indonesia to donate 100,000 pairs of goggles, which serve as personal protective equipment (PPE), to the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB). "PT Atalla is one of the eyewear manufacturers in Indonesia. Its products include safety glasses for medical personnel," said the Director General of Small, Medium, and Miscellaneous Industries (IKMA) at the Ministry of Industry, Gati Wibawaningsih, in Jakarta on Sunday (March 22).

On Saturday (March 21), the protective glasses made by PT Atalla Indonesia, branded EVO 3014 CL, were handed over directly by PT Atalla Indonesia Marketing Director Kevin Chow to the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Doni Monardo, in the presence of the Director General of IKMA at the Ministry of Industry at the BNPB Headquarters in Jakarta.

Through these efforts, the Ministry of Industry expressed its appreciation to PT Atalla Indonesia for its assistance to the government in handling and preventing the coronavirus outbreak. According to Gati, this demonstrates the support and concern of national industry players in the COVID-19 pandemic.

"These protective glasses will be distributed to those in dire need, such as medical personnel treating COVID-19 patients. The BNPB will then hand them over to the Ministry of Health as needed," he said.

Gati stated that her office has also submitted a list of industries producing PPE to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), such as mask manufacturers. In the eyewear industry, there are currently 15 companies employing more than 6,300 people.

The Ministry of Industry continues to encourage industry players to contribute to the government's efforts to mitigate the social and economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The fight against the spread of the coronavirus can be a form of corporate social responsibility (CSR). "Several industry players have already taken the initiative to help. One of them is the sub-district industry, as the need is quite high," she added.

PT Atalla Indonesia is the only domestic eyewear manufacturer with an integrated factory, from frames to lenses and accessories. "We are also the only eyewear company officially certified as halal and support the government's Halal Health Industry 2024 program. We are currently actively introducing new halal products with the slogan "Halal is Good," said Kevin Chow, Marketing Director of PT Atalla Indonesia.
